Designer to the stars in benefit fraud
Sarah Ratty the award-winning ethical fashion designer, falsely claimed more than £44,000 in housing benefits.
Her Hove-based company Ciel, sells sweaters and cardigans for up to £249.
Ciel won the Ethical Fashion Award at the UK Fashion Awards in London in June, the Princess Royal attended the awards.
Celebrity clients of Ms Ratty include Macy Gray, Cate Blanchett, Zoe Ball, and Sienna Miller.
Ratty was convicted after falsely claiming a total of £44,120 housing benefit from Brighton and Hove City Council over five years.
She sentenced to eight months in prison suspended for 18 months. She has no previous convictions and voluntarily has repaid £11,000 to the city council.
