In 1908 Marquis M Converse had a dream. He wanted to create rubber soled footwear for the men and women of America that inspired the people of America.

The magic of Converse was born in 1917 when renowned Basketball player “Chuck Taylor” joined forces with Converse after struggling to find suitable foot wear to wear. Converse were quick to realise Chuck’s potential as an ambassador and after a short time selling the rubber soled boots his famous signature was added to the All star patch, and the mighty Converse Chuck Taylor boot was launched across America. Soon the hearts and minds of every fashion conscious American was gripped by a new love of the athletic footwear.

Converse have continued their affiliation with Basketball by customizing boots for the mighty Rens although after losing their apparent monopoly they are no longer the official shoe of the National Basketball Association. This has not stopped Converse’s popularity on the suburbs of America where sales of the basketball shoes continue to rocket.

Although remaining close to the hearts of Americans, Converse have found themselves attracting a wider market from Europe and the famous Chuck Taylor boot has become an all American symbol that is internationally recognizable as a representation of one mans dream.
